Competitive cricket
Matches & selection
Our juniors play competitive cricket from U9 softball right through to U17 hardball, with squads organised by age category under Singapore tournament regulations. Here's how leagues, fixtures and selection work.
Play in a league
We enter teams in boys U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17 leagues and in girls U18 leagues. If your child would like to play league cricket, start by completing our Expressions of Interest form — it tells us which age group and format to consider them for.
Fixtures
TeamApp Events is the master source for fixtures — it carries real-time updates as match days and tournaments are confirmed for each age group. Player availability is also submitted through TeamApp, so please RSVP there rather than by email.
Academy attendees get priority
Players attending academy sessions in the current term receive match selection priority. Regular training is the strongest signal of commitment our selectors have.
Why fixtures vary term to term
Junior cricket in Singapore works around limited pitch availability, and there is no national junior league. Our fixture programme reflects that: match days and tournaments are confirmed through TeamApp as they are locked in.
Match-day kit
For incoming fixtures and overseas tours, players wear cricket whites. For domestic leagues and tournaments, the current match kit is the yellow SCC SKA kit — see the Kit & Uniform page for what's included and how to get it.
Match-day attire rules under the new kit are being confirmed. Check the TeamApp event notes for your league before match day, or WhatsApp us if you're unsure what your child should wear.
Selection policy
Our junior selection policies keep team selection fair and transparent from U9 to U17. The essentials are below.
U9, U11 & U13 (friendlies)
Friendly squads exist to give young players a fair, development-first environment — an enjoyable introduction to competitive play regardless of skill level.
- Academy attendance: priority goes to players attending academy sessions in the current term.
- Age eligibility: players turning 9 (or 11, or 13 for the respective squads) or younger within the calendar year.
- Communication and behaviour: responsiveness to selection communications and behavioural standards are considered.
- Performance: considered mainly for finals; development comes first the rest of the time.
Selections are managed by the Head of Pathways, with uniform criteria applied across all squads.
U13 (league), U15 & U17
League squads focus on skill development, role specialisation and leadership as players move towards senior cricket.
- Age eligibility: U15 is open to players who turn 15 or younger within the calendar year; U17 to players who turn 17 or younger.
- Cricketing ability: the primary selection consideration.
- Commitment: demonstrated through academy participation.
- Team composition: squads are balanced across batting, bowling and other roles.
- Conduct: player conduct and communication responsiveness, in line with club values.
The Head of Pathways oversees all selections, ensuring a uniform approach across age groups.
